What is a Power Rake?
Similar to a roto-tiller, a power rake is a heavy-duty garden tool with sharp blades used for removing debris, thatch, and moss from the soil level.
Power raking is not to be confused with dethatching, which removes debris from below the soil, and effectively rips up healthy root systems.
Why is Lawn Power Raking Important?
While a little bit of thatch is fine, a build up of thatch is unhealthy for your grass. Too match thatch can block water from reaching your soil, and effectively cut off the nutrient supply to your grass. As a result, your grass could end up taking root in the thatch, rather than the actual soil – not good.
In addition, by clearing out excess thatch, your grass will be able to breath, intake more nutrients, and grow lusher than ever.
